We believe in the principles of ethical tourism. This is not a marketing ploy or an empty slogan. We don't pledge to replant the Amazon or install solar panels in Africa but, we take positive actions on a daily basis in order to minimise the negative impacts of tourism and maximise its positive impacts.
We do this by starting with small measures around our day to day operations such as using recycled stationary, choosing not to print thick glossy brochures and reducing our carbon footprint by using energy efficient equipment and cycling to work everyday. But more importantly, we believe that our commercial interests do not take precedence over the interests of others. This includes the interest of the people we work with, the local people we deal with, the environment and landscape we cross and the wildlife we come across. For example, we don't deal with any company that is in any way connected with organising hunting trips.
And we do our best to:
- Minimise negative economic, environmental and social impacts.
- Generate greater economic benefits for local people and enhance the well-being of host communities and improve working conditions and access to the industry.
- Involve local people in decisions that affect their lives and life chances.
- Make positive contributions to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage and to the maintenance of the world's diversity.
- Provide more enjoyable experiences for tourists through more meaningful connections with local people, and a greater understanding of local cultural, social and environmental issues.
- To be culturally sensitive, engender respect between tourists and hosts, and builds local pride and confidence.
